The Call for Abstracts for the Coastal Resilience Symposium 2025 is now open. The symposium will take place in Barcelona, Spain, from 4-5 November, 2025.
This event will bring together leading international experts to collaboratively address the most pressing challenges facing coastal ecosystems. It is designed as a space for interdisciplinary dialogue focused on identifying innovative and transformative research directions. Outcomes from the symposium will contribute to a strategic document outlining scientific priorities and recommendations to guide future research investment policies.
The symposium aims to promote the exchange of cutting-edge knowledge and foster long-term collaborations to support sustainable solutions for the conservation and resilience of coasts and oceans.

We are pleased to share an exciting opportunity from one of our members, SOCIB – The Balearic Islands Coastal Observing and Forecasting System, who is currently recruiting a Research Data Analyst to support their work within the Copernicus Marine Service 2 (CMEMS2).
This role focuses on the processing, quality control, and analysis of coastal High-Frequency Radar (HFR) data—an essential component for understanding and monitoring ocean surface currents in the Mediterranean region.
Key Responsibilities:

Operational data processing and validation of HFR systems

Integration and quality assurance of data for CMEMS2
-
Contribution to research, development, and service improvement activities related to radar data

Collaboration with national and international partners
Profile:

A strong background in oceanography, marine science, remote sensing, or a related field

Experience with data processing tools and programming languages (e.g., Python, MATLAB)

Familiarity with ocean observing systems and radar technology is highly desirable

EMD In My Country event: Coastal Success Through Ocean Knowledge

Held in the historic maritime town of Cobh, this event is co-organised by Cobh and Harbour Chamber, in partnership with Port of Cork, EurOcean, JPI Oceans, EMSEA, and EuroGOOS, as part of the EU4Ocean Coalition and the Sustainable Blue Economy Partnership.
The event will convene SMEs, marine experts, educators, and policy-makers to explore how Ocean Literacy can empower businesses to meet sustainability goals such as the European Green Deal, the UN SDGs, and the European Ocean Pact.
Through interactive dialogue, the workshop will:

Lead the communications work package for a programme that highlights the EU’s role in strengthening international ocean governance. This role focuses on increasing the collection, sharing, and use of ocean observations for societal benefit. Strong project management and communications skills are required.
- Communications Officer – OceanPrediction DCC & OPERA
Support communications and community engagement for the OceanPrediction Decade Collaborative Centre and operational oceanography initiatives in Africa through the OPERA programme. This role requires expertise in project management, community building, and communications.
