SHOM

Shom, a public administrative institution under the supervision of the Ministry of the Armed Forces, is the heir to the oldest official hydrographic service in the world, the Dépôt des cartes et plans de la marine, created on 19 November 1720.

Its missions have evolved over time. Today, Shom is responsible for describing and forecasting the oceans, from the open sea to the coastline.

For three centuries, Shom has made a decisive contribution to the development of the maritime world.
